Bill Kennedy joined NCTR as Director of Network in 2020. Bill brings 25 years of experience in urban education, including 11 years in teacher residencies. Bill is the former co-director of UChicago’s Urban Teacher Education Program, one of the first teacher residencies in the US and a founding program at NCTR. Prior to directing UChicagoUTEP, Bill was the residency year coordinator, foundations course instructor, and induction coach. In 2017, he earned a Doctorate in Curriculum Studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago, with a dissertation that articulated a critical, justice-oriented model for induction coaching as a bridge from residency to teacher of record. Prior to UChicagoUTEP, Bill was a middle school teacher and Assistant Principal in New York City Public Schools. He is based in Chicago.
