Bill Kennedy is the Managing Director of Partnerships and Development for NCTR, where he cultivates relationships and strengthens the organization’s profile in the funder and nonprofit sectors. He joined NCTR in 2020, and previously served as a Managing Director of Programs at NCTR, leading a team of program and associate directors providing support to teacher residencies in NCTR’s Network. Bill brings 25 years of experience in urban education, including 11 years in teacher residencies. Bill is the former co-director of UChicago’s Urban Teacher Education Program (UTEP), one of the first teacher residencies in the U.S. and a founding program at NCTR. Prior to directing UChicagoUTEP, Bill was the residency year coordinator, foundations course instructor and induction coach. In 2017, he earned a Doctorate in Curriculum Studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago, with a dissertation that articulated a critical, justice-oriented model for induction coaching as a bridge from residency to teacher of record. Prior to UChicagoUTEP, Bill was a middle school teacher and Assistant Principal in New York City Public Schools.
