NCTR will highlight the importance of designing a selection process that eliminates barriers to program entry. The selection process for teacher residents and mentor teachers is equitable, asset-based, inclusive, and aligned with a residency program’s mission and vision. Design teams will collaborate to draft a selection process for teacher residents and mentor teachers that has a range of activities that are transparent, inclusive, and culturally responsive. Design teams will also discuss the value of having a selection process for training sites that are aligned with selection criteria and prioritize underserved schools.
